PIERRE, S.D. (KELO) — South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley says scammers are taking advantage of people who need work projects completed as quickly as possible.

A Louisiana man is facing charges for deceptive business practices involving an asphalt paving job.

Authorities say 24-year-old Bill Roger Acker III represents a family business that’s believed to be working in western South Dakota.

He’s also charged with Grand Theft by Deception.

Jackley is reminding people to never give into high-pressure sales tactics, especially from those soliciting business door-to-door.

I think this guy came to our house asking about if we wanted our driveway done using the extra asphalt from some bog job. Hubby ran him off...

Well for starters what the hell is an asphalt paving business from clear down in Louisiana that’s not branching out into other locations doing way up here in South Dakota doing jobs? Really? There’s REALLY no other asphalt companies anywhere remotely closer to western South Dakota that can do it? Like one of our bordering states or even in South Dakota?
