Storm Center PM Update: Chilly Nights Linger for a Bit

SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO) — Chillier temperatures have made their presence known, with a rare sight observed for a second day in a row: Below average daytime highs.

We’ll have ourselves another rather chilly night on our hands across KELOLAND with clearer skies and a calm breeze in place.

A freeze warning is in effect for a majority of central and eastern KELOLAND outside of the Sioux Falls area through Tuesday morning. Please take all necessary precautions to protect any outdoor plants. Areas not under a freeze warning in southeastern KELOLAND were able to experience a hard freeze overnight on Sunday into Monday morning, so they are not included in this warning.

After one more cool day and night through Tuesday and Tuesday night respectively, we begin yet another warm-up that carries us into the second half of the week. 70s and 80s are likely by Thursday into Friday before a frontal boundary moves into the region.

We’ve been watching this front over the last several days in the hopes that trends would hold and keep rain chances, and while chances are still in place, they’re dwindling a bit. We’ll still keep an eye on this chance as well as another low-end opportunity toward the start of next week.
