SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — The structure for a temporary interstate bridge over Cliff Avenue in Sioux Falls is falling into place midway through October 2024.

Is there enough land to hunt pheasants in South Dakota?

The temporary bridge is going in as part of the larger DOT project to redo both exits 4 (Cliff Ave.) and 3 (Minnesota).

Per a September update from the DOT’s project site, concrete barriers have been put into place and along with retaining walls in preparation of the new bridge, and crews are working on assembling the temporary bridge and setting it into place over Cliff Ave.

The DOT online says that drivers should anticipate delays and the potential use of alternative routes through the duration of the project, and should use caution and reduce speed when traveling in the area.

Looking at the overall timeline , which began back in 2017 with the completion of an investment study, the project is now in its final half, with construction on exits 3 and 4 expected to take place from 2025 to 2026, and 2027 to 2028, respectively.

KELOLAND News has been in touch with the DOT and is seeking more information on the temporary bridge.
