    Cougar Volleyball snags 3-1 victory over Mavericks

    SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (USF) — The University of Sioux Falls volleyball team earned a gritty 3-1 win over Minnesota State tonight. After a close first set loss, 24-26, the Cougars bounced back to win the next three sets 25-18, 25-22, and 25-21. The victory lifted USF to a 12-6 overall record and 7-3 in NSIC play.

    USF’s offense was highly efficient throughout the match, hitting an impressive .356 as a team. They tallied 60 kills while keeping their errors to just 12 over 135 attempts. Sadie Voss led the team with 17 kills, hitting at a .277 rate. Her all-around contributions were evident as she also added 14 digs, helping the Cougars excel both offensively and defensively. Jordan Kuper was a force at the net, collecting 15 kills on a remarkable .500 hitting percentage while adding 4 blocks to shut down Minnesota State’s attack during key moments.

    A major highlight of the match was Jordyn Hamm , who not only delivered 9 kills on a .471 hitting percentage but also achieved a significant career milestone. Hamm recorded her 100th career service ace and then added to that total, finishing the match with 3 aces. She also dominated defensively, leading the team with 6 total blocks, providing an all-around stellar performance that kept the Mavericks on their heels.

    Aubrey Gates contributed significantly with 14 kills, hitting .464 and adding 3 digs. Elise Gillen quarterbacked the offense with 46 assists, keeping the team in rhythm and finding her hitters consistently. Gillen also made a defensive impact, registering 14 digs. The Cougars collectively played strong defense, totaling 60 digs and 11 blocks, keeping Minnesota State to a hitting percentage of just .213.
