    Vermillion scores late to secure boys soccer crown

    YANKTON, S.D. (KELO) — Vermillion knocked off James Valley Christian 3-2 in the Class ‘A’ boys state title game Saturday night in Yankton. Ian Job scored with less than 90 seconds remaining in regulation.

    The Vikings struck first on a Gavin Waldner goal with just under nine minutes left in the first half. Job put the Tanagers on the board 12 minutes into the second half. James Nissen gave Vermillion its first lead with a PK goal five minutes later. Waldner evened the score at two with 16 minutes left.

    The Tanagers finished the season with a 10-2-1 mark, while JVC wrapped up 12-5.
