Storm Center AM Update: Unseasonably Warm into Monday

SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO) — Foggy conditions are in place for northeastern portions of KELOLAND…especially in the Aberdeen area. Otherwise, it has been a generally quiet start to the day.

Unseasonable warmth is on the menu today, as southerly flow at the surface and aloft help send the temperature well above average for this time of year. Many locations may see highs today that are 15 to 25 degrees above average for this time of year.

Even Monday holds another round of unseasonable warmth with widespread 70s on the way and a few low 80s hanging tough. We do gradually back off a bit going into the second half of the week, but the overall trend is a warmer one as we head toward the final weekend of October.

Along the way, we do get a few chances for spotty showers. The first chance comes along for Monday into Monday night, with chances being highest in central, southern, and southeastern KELOLAND. A rumble of thunder or two may even be possible toward the SD/NE border near the likes of Yankton and Vermillion.

We don’t wait too long for the second chance, which arrives late on Tuesday into early Wednesday. Again, not everyone will see something…but it’s better than the alternative.

In general, we stay dry through the rest of the week after that and into next weekend as well.
