ABERDEEN, S.D. (KELO) — Northern State is preparing for a new season. They started 1-4 last year, but finished the year with a 5-6 mark.

The Wolves return six starters on offense and seven on defense. That group includes names like Hank Kraft at running back and standout linebacker, Luke Gunderson.

Now, the Wolves are hoping to fill any holes with their large recruiting class, which has plenty of South Dakota natives.

“We’ve really made and emphasis to make sure we get some of those guys that are the best guys out of there. That’s no different out west. We’ve got a strong contingent of Rapid City kids who are going to be really good players for us as well,” Northern State head coach Mike Schmidt said.

The Wolves open the season on the road. They’ll travel to Vermillion to play FCS opponent USD on Thursday, August 29. Kick-off set for 7 p.m.
