According to a new report by Business NC, a major furniture company will be closing its doors this year and will lay off 158 workers. According to the report, Leggett & Platt, located in High Point, will close its facility by the end of September.

The first round of layoffs will start around July 25. According to the report, the company is laying off workers for "consolidation of operations". The company is headquartered in Carthage, Missouri, and has been manufacturing bedsprings since the late 1880s.

Leggett & Platt has 135 production facilities in 17 countries, with approximately 19,300 workers at the end of 2023.
