    This Manufacturing Facility Is Closing in This SC Town and Is Moving to Mexico

    According to a new report by WCBD-TV, a manufacturing facility in Hemingway is closing its doors and moving to Mexico. As a result, 148 workers will be laid off. According to the report, Tupperware, a home product line producing kitchenware appliances, will close its Hemingway facility.

    The layoffs are expected to begin on September 28, 2024, and the plant will close its doors permanently on January 14, 2025. Tupperware brands released a statement and said that workers will be offered severance packages and early retirement.

    Workers will also be allowed to connect with other employers at a job fair for future employment. The company will be moving the manufacturing operations completely to Lerma, Mexico.
