According to a new report by PC Gamer, the CEO of a company based in NC said they are now "financially sound" after laying off 800+ workers last year. Epic Games, based in Cary and the creator of "Fortnite" and "Unreal Engine", grew quickly in the early 2020s and became a household name in the gaming industry.

However, Epic CEO, Tim Sweeney, said the company made a major mistake. According to Sweeney, the company spent way more money than it brought in.

Sweeney also said that he believed the company could make it through its rough patch without any layoffs - however - that was "unrealistic". After a year of "rebuilding and executing solidly on all fronts", the company is now financially sound, according to Sweeney.
