Police uncover illegal marijuana operation in Manchester
MANCHESTER -- Police have discovered another large illegal marijuana growing operation. Just before 10 a.m. the Kennebec County Sheriff's Office executed a search warrant on the Pond Road in Manchester after being tipped off by neighbors who reportedly smelled marijuana. Police say 1,168 marijuana plants were seized at the residence.

Gardiner FCU Awards $24,000 to Local Food Pantries and Organizations. Gardiner Federal Credit Union recently had their annual Ending Hunger Check Reception, to distribute the funds they raised in 2023. The reception was held at Spectrum Generations Cohen Center, where representatives of local food pantries and organizations were in attendance. Each of the agencies invited help local families and individuals faced with food insecurities. A total of nine food pantries were distributed checks from GFCU.
