KENNER, La. ( WGNO ) — Two people were arrested in Kenner following a detection in the Flock Safety system that led to the recovery of two stolen vehicles, drugs and a gun on Friday, July 19.
According to the Kenner Police Department, officers responded to the detection of a stolen Nissan Kicks around 2:10 a.m. near the Interstate 10 and Williams Boulevard interchange.
KPD officials said police units “flooded the area” and found the vehicle in a parking lot in the 3200 block of Williams Boulevard.
To avoid a chase, Kenner police said the initial responding unit stayed and watched until more police arrived. While watching, the driver of the Nissan reportedly exited his vehicle and spoke with the driver of another car, an Alfa Romeo, which police say was later found to have also been stolen.

The two suspects were reportedly arrested without incident after back-up units arrived. According to the KPD, the driver of the Nissan was a 17-year-old, and the driver of the Alfa Romeo was a 16-year-old.
Along with the vehicles, which were both reported as stolen out of New Orleans, Kenner police said they also recovered illegal drugs and a handgun from the Nissan and discovered that may have been involved in an armed robbery in New Orleans.
