Kennett Twp., PA – A historic home in Chester County once served as a “station” along the Underground Railroad, and now with the help of a preservation grant from the African American Cultural Heritage Action Fund, it will stand the tests of time as a museum.

The Kennett Underground Railroad Center has been operating out of one room to share the significance of Kennett Square, Pennsylvania as a passage for hundreds of slaves and Harriet Tubman as a conductor on the Underground Railroad.

This house served as a quick turnaround point for travelers on the Underground Railroad to quickly treat injuries before retreating to safety, and will now be preserved as a gateway of two roads, including the Harriet Tubman Byway.
