TRI-CITIES - Tours of the Manhattan Project B-Reactor will be extended through the end of October.

Visit Tri-Cities announced Wednesday the Department of Energy opened reservations for the tours due to the popularity of the historical landmark.

"We have noticed a swell in the interest in destinations where history and science can be explored," said Kevin Lewis, President and CEO of Visit Tri-Cities. "We are thrilled in the collaboration we've had with the DOE to open this opportunity to visitors for the remainder of the 2024 season.

According to Lewis, the tours not only contribute to the local economy, but they provide an educational experience. Between March 20, 2024 and June 30, 2024, the tours and other opportunities within it brought in over $1.7 million in direct revenue to local hotels. It also brought people from 38 countries and 48 U.S. states who toured the B-Reactor.
