Kennewick Irrigation District lifts mandatory watering schedule

KENNEWICK, Wash. -- The Kennewick Irrigation District announced residents can return to a voluntary watering schedule.
After a mandatory watering schedule was issued on July 7, the mandatory schedule will be lifted on Sunday, August 4.
“We are incredibly grateful for the cooperation and water-saving efforts of our community during this challenging drought period,” said Shane Leonard, District Manager of the Kennewick Irrigation District. “Your commitment to conservation has been instrumental in ensuring a reliable water supply for all.”
KID said it understands the troubles of adhering to a mandatory watering schedule but due to the efforts of the community, water demand has significantly decreased.
According to KID, the area is still in a drought and staff is still urging the community to conserve water. Below is important information from KID:

The voluntary watering schedule remains the same as the previous mandatory schedule and can be found at kid.org.
Drip irrigation systems and hose watering are not affected by the watering schedule.
