CHESTERTOWN — The Kent County Sheriff’s Office reported a threat of mass violence made to Kent County Middle School on Sept. 17.

According to police, after an investigation conducted at the middle school by the sheriff’s office, a 14-year-old boy from Rock Hall was charged with making a threat of mass violence. The juvenile was referred to the Department of Juvenile Services and released to a parent. Further questions to the sheriff’s office on the nature of the incident were declined.

Public Relations/Communications Specialist with the school Dan Divilio confirmed the incident but could only report there was no shelter in place or lockdown as a result of the incident and that parents of middle school students were notified through school communications.
