KCA announces summer resident artists
CHESTERTOWN — On June 22, the Kent Cultural Alliance will welcome its second class of resident artists for the SFW Residency Program at the Raimond Cultural Center. These four artists will work with KCA’s partner, ShoreRivers. The SFW Residency uses the arts to provide a new lens through which Kent County residents can see and understand issues that impact our daily lives. Chestertown RiverArts annual Re!magined Runway gala is returning to the Chester River Yacht and Country Club on Aug. 3. Rock Hall Garden Club offers yearly scholarship
ROCKHALL — Every year the Garden Club of Rock Hall awards a $1,000 scholarship to a high school senior to help promote their future career in agriculture, horticulture or natural resources. This year’s award was presented by Club President Elaine Maugham on May 16 to Kent County High School graduate Bradley Trice Moore II. The Garden Club promotes interest in and provides education toward the art of gardening; aids in the protection of native trees, plants and birds and promotes conservation in the community. Women in Black is a world-wide network of women committed to peace with justice and actively opposed to injustice, war, militarism and other forms of violence. Its activism started in the late 50’s, and 60’s witnessing the atrocities of the Palestinian/Israeli conflict. Guardian of the Pearl Rockfish Tournament supports RHVFC fund
ROCK HALL — The Rock Hall Volunteer Fire Company (RHVFC) raised over $46,000 in this year’s annual Guardian of the Pearl Rockfish Tournament. The earnings were capped off with a generous donation back to the company from his win by youth angler Bryce Jacobs. Kicking off the event was a catered Captain’s Meeting at Haven Harbour South the night before the competition took to the water.
