Kent Police arrested a woman following a standoff at a residence in the 24000 block of 94th Avenue S. (map below) on Monday morning, July 22, 2024.

Police said that at 10:20 a.m., officers were dispatched to the home after receiving a 911 call from a man reporting that his wife had assaulted him and attempted to break his phone. The caller, a 47-year-old Kent man, left the house to contact police from a neighbor’s home. He later informed officers that his elderly father was still inside and possibly unable to leave.

Upon arrival, officers determined that the elderly father, a 73-year-old man, had managed to exit the home. He reported that his daughter-in-law had initially prevented him from leaving and had assaulted him multiple times. Both the father and son had visible injuries and were treated at the scene.

The suspect, a 27-year-old Kent woman, remained inside the house. Police secured a perimeter and made numerous attempts to contact her via text, phone calls, and loudspeaker, but received no response. A search warrant was obtained, and a police drone was deployed inside the residence to locate the suspect. The drone activity woke her, and after further loudspeaker announcements, she exited the home at 2:30 p.m. without incident.

The suspect was transported to King County Jail and booked for Unlawful Imprisonment Domestic Violence, (DV), Assault 4 DV x 2 and interfering with reporting of a DV x 2.

The Kent Detective Unit has taken over the investigation and will be investigating the circumstances leading up to the incident.
