Victoria Hernández Padilla, Sonoma Valley High Class of 2024, read an open letter to the Trustees of the Sonoma Valley Unified School District at their June 6 meeting. Hernández Padilla was elected 2023-24 Sonoma High Student Voice, a dual role of President of the Associated Student Body and Student Member of the Board of Trustees. Vallejo police investigating shooting that left 1 dead
A shooting in East Vallejo left a man dead Friday, police said. The shooting occurred about noon near the intersection of Tennessee Street and Humboldt Street, police said.Officers found a man suffering from at least one gunshot wound, police said. The man was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.The man's identity was withheld pending notification of next of kin by the Solano County Coroner's Office. The motive and circumstances surrounding the shooting are under investigation, police said. Man Loses Fingers in Antioch Fireworks Mishap
On Saturday morning, the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District responded to downtown Antioch for a report of a fireworks mishap. The incident occurred at 5:45 am at 2nd Street and G St across from city hall where a 39-year-old male was in a parking lot when the firework exploded in his hand — he reportedly lost 4 fingers in the explosion. AMR transported the male to an area hospital.
