Walmart shopper slams cart design as ‘stupidest and ugliest’ they’ve ever seen fuming it’s even worse than the original

A NEW shopping cart design at Walmart has been cause for criticism from some customers.

The retail giant started testing the updated cart in Kentucky last summer before confirming it would be rolled out at its 4,609 stores in the United States in 2024.

Many Walmart shoppers have started to see the carts pop up at their local stores and immediately found issues with the changes.

The main critique has been the cart's height, which increased significantly.

It's a whole 3.5 inches taller, and the child seats are 5.8 inches higher than before.

The new cart also has updated features for shoppers' benefit, including a cupholder for drinks and a place to put smartphones.

Still, the negatives seem to outweigh the positives for a customer who was particularly upset to see the new shopping cart design last month.

They claimed the new cart was a downgrade from the previous version, which they were already unsatisfied with.

DEVASTATING DOWNGRADE

"This is by far the stupidest and ugliest shopping cart I've ever seen," the customer blasted in a post to Reddit.

"It's even worse than the clunker we've been lugging around for years."

A full image of the new cart with its increased height and added features was also included in their rant.

Despite their grievances, some shoppers argued back that there could be positives for both customers and Walmart with the update.

"Actually, it's the smartest," someone replied.

"It allows shoppers to put more product in it, and paymore."

"I actually like it simply because of how the child seat is higher," another added.

"When kids would swing their legs in the old cart they would always catch me with a below the waist shot."

MORE CONSIDERATION

A few customers still felt the larger and taller version of the Walmart shopping cart was a personal attack on those who stand at a shorter height and with disabilities.

"Thank you for thinking of yourself," an irritated customer, Patricia, wrote in a post to Facebook about the change.

"On behalf of short and handicapped people, thank you again for letting us know you would like us to go to other stores..."

Several others echoed similar complaints.

It's unclear whether or not Walmart will make adjustments to the carts based on the response from some shoppers.

There's also been considerable backlash at self-checkout.

Select customers have started abandoning their carts of groceries worth $50 or more after a policy change to the kiosk area.

Others say the self-checkout change has made shopping at their local store a "madhouse."
