Kentucky’s Governor’s Scholar’s Program is getting a new leader. At the end of this year’s session, Dr. Jennifer Price of Georgetown will take over as the executive director.

She is a 20-year veteran of the program, GSP Class of 1992 alumna and was selected by the program’s board of directors.

She will succeed long-serving Executive Director Dr. Aris Cedeño.

At a recent press conference Cedeño said working with G-S-P program helped him connect with America.

“What the Governor’s Scholar’s Program and the Commonwealth of Kentucky, what they have taught me, is the intellectual, the cultural, and the human values of the wonderful, my wonderful, adoptive homeland.”

Price said she has a deep connection to the G-S-P program.

“As an alum and the parent of one, I know first-hand the impact that GSP has on Kentucky’s high school students. I am wholly committed to the mission of the program, to enhance the next generation of civic and economic leaders and that includes students from all parts of the commonwealth.”

Over 2,000 students apply for the program at the state level each year, with approximately 1,000 selected to attend.

The current G-S-P program is based at Centre College in Danville, Morehead State University in Morehead, and Murray State University in Murray.
