KENTWOOD, Mich. (WOOD) — Kentwood Public Schools is on the hunt for a new board member after its secretary resigned.

Board Secretary Angela Hovermale resigned, effective Tuesday, because she’s moving outside of the district, KPS said.

Michigan Election Law and Board Policy says The Kentwood Public Schools Board must fill the seat within 30 days from Tuesday. The board is now taking applications.

Any applicant must be a registered voter and resident in the school district, be at least 18 years old, a U.S. citizen and a resident of the state of Michigan for at least 30 days. Applications are available on the KPS website or at the Superintendent’s office at 5820 Eastern Ave. SE in Kentwood. They must be returned to the Superintendent’s office attention Kevin Polston by 4 p.m. on July 25.

Candidate interviews will be held during an open KPS Board of Education meeting.

Questions can be directed to Sydney Hanlon, Executive Assistant to the Board of Education at 616.455.4400 or Sydney.hanlon@kentwoodps.org.
