Dave & Buster’s parent company opening family-friendly spot at Woodland

KENTWOOD, Mich. (WOOD) — A family-friendly entertainment center is opening at Woodland Mall next month.

Main Event is set to open Aug. 14, it announced Friday. The 49,000-square-foot building is located near Von Maur in Kentwood’s Woodland Mall.

It will have laser tag, video games, bowling lanes, arcade games and other entertainment. It will also have a restaurant and bar, with menu items like fried pickles and funnel cake fries and drinks like the cotton candy Shirley Temple and a margarita flight.

“We are delighted to bring Main Event to Grand Rapids, offering a unique and immersive entertainment experience that will leave lasting memories for everyone who walks through our doors,” General Manager Anthony Cyr said in a release. “We look forward to adding ourselves to the growing roster of Grand Rapids’ family-friendly activities, with our commitment to providing exceptional service, a vibrant atmosphere, and a wide range of entertainment options.”

The venue is working to hire 160 people. Information on open positions can be found at mainevent.com .

Main Event has close to 60 locations throughout 19 states. This will be its first spot in Michigan.

It is owned by Dave & Buster’s Entrainment, Inc., the parent company of Dave & Buster’s. West Michigan’s only Dave & Buster’s location is nearby, located at 3660 28th St.
