Summer Learning Kickoff scheduled

This year’s Kenyon Public Library Summer Learning theme is “Adventure Begins at Your Library.”

The library staff has developed Challenge Sheets, Photo Challenges, and Reading Challenges for people interested. As a reward, completed challenges may be turned in for free books.

S.T.E.M. Days will occur on Wednesday, June 5, June 12, and June 26 for elementary-age library patrons.

Two preschool storytimes are planned: one is June 21, and the second one is June 28. Programs will start at 10:30.

On Thursday, June 6, an eagle ambassador and naturalist from the National Eagle Center will present a program about eagle biology, ecology, natural history, and cultural connections to eagles. Photography is welcome in this free program, which SELCO and the Clean Water, Land, and Legacy Amendment fund.

Animal Day at the library is scheduled for Friday, June 7. This is an opportunity to come in during library hours and learn about and interact with various animals.

Lovin’ Spoonful drummer Mike Arturi will present a program on June 13 titled Spark to

Learning! Drum Circle. This is an opportunity to spark a passion for learning through musical arts. No drumming experience is needed; bring your rhythm and be ready to make noise and smile. The class is for older elementary-age people to adults and is free but limited to the first thirty people who register. The deadline to register is June 12. Funding for this class comes from SELCO and the Clean Water, Land, and Legacy Amendment.

The library staff has put together a summer full of learning opportunities. Watch for upcoming events in July, August, and September.
