    West Virginia police investigating death of man shot during altercation

    MINGO COUNTY, W.Va. — The West Virginia State Police are investigating a shooting of a Kermit, West Virginia, man after he was shot multiple times during a physical altercation.

    According to the WVSP, Charles Speer, 42, traveled to the home of 50-year-old David Hodge in Lenore, West Virginia, where an altercation occurred.

    Officials say the two men got into a physical altercation, resulting in Speer being shot several times.

    Speer was transported to Williams ARH, where he was pronounced dead.

    According to officials, Speer is being sent to Frankfort, Kentucky, for an autopsy.

    Officials say the investigation has been discussed with the Mingo County Prosecutor, but no charges have been filed at this time.

    Investigators say the case remains active and ongoing.
