Early special election voting at voter registration office
Early voting for the special Kershaw County Council chairman election begins Monday, July 22. Due to a scheduling conflict, early voting not take place at Camden City Arena, but at the Kershaw County Voter Registration Office, 1117-B Broad St., which is accessed from the rear parking lot that can be accessed from either Church Street or Lafayette Avenue.
Kershaw County families receive summer aid through Greg's Groceries initiative
CAMDEN, S.C. — Families in need getting a boost this summer in Kershaw County. It’s all thanks to an effort born out of tragedy almost a decade ago. The group Serve and Connect which was founded after Forest Acres Police officer Greg Alia was lost in the line of duty in 2015 has been making sure food is on the table through the Greg’s Groceries program.
KC School Board To Meet on July 16th
The Kershaw County School Board will meet on Tuesday July 16th at 6pm inside the back building of the district office in Camden. Items on the agenda include public forum, discussion of the 2025 board meeting calendar, talk of district financials from May, and a first reading of a board policy review on suspensions, among other items. KC School Board meetings are open to the public and stream live at the district’s YouTube channel.

Early Voting Will Be Available For KC Chair Race
The election for Kershaw County Council Chair, to replace Katie Guinn, will take place on August 6th. Current Councilman Jimmy Jones, SC House Seat 52 Representative Ben Connell, and Jeff Mattox all are running to replace Guinn. Early Voting will be available July 22nd through August 2nd, Monday through Friday 830am-5pm at the Kershaw County Voter Registration Office, 1117B Broad Street in Camden. You can also vote on the special election day, Tuesday August 6th.
Williams family, GG Jackson to be honored by county council
Kershaw County Council will honor a Camden-area family and a current NBA player during its meeting today, one through a proclamation, and the other via a resolution. The proclamation will honor the William “Shorty” Williams family of the Knights Hill community, which is hosting a family reunion July 19 to 21, with family members coming in from all parts of the county. District 1 Councilman is offering the proclamation, which notes that the Williams family has been a part of the Knights Hill community since the early 1800s, and that current family members span six generations dating back to the 1930s.
