Columbia gerontologist offers coping tips for National Grief Awareness Day
Caregivers must care for themselves amongst loss of loved ones. On August 30th, National Grief Awareness Day is recognized as a day for those that have experienced loss, to educate others on grief, the different ways it can play a major part in our daily lives. Recent data is showing that more Americans are caring for their elderly parents. Recent studies indicate that between 47% and 71% report grief while caring for a loved one and 20% experience complicated grief after death.
Gamecocks win tough home-opener against Old Dominion 23-19
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - The South Carolina Gamecocks began their season with a hard-fought home win against Old Dominion. This was the first time South Carolina and Old Dominion will compete on the turf, making the Gamecocks ODU’s second SEC opponent all-time. The only other time playing against an SEC team was a 42-28 loss to Vanderbilt in 2014.
New restaurant coming to former Liberty Tap Room location
Known as a staple in the Vista for 20 years, Liberty Tap Room & Grill closed on July 14 to undergo much needed extensive renovations, according to the owners. But Thursday morning, construction workers were spotted hanging a sign indicating a new restaurant coming to the popular dining spot. The official announcement came Friday from the Homegrown Hospitality Group that the restaurant will now reopen as their taqueria concept, Taco Mundo Kitchen Y Cantina.

It’s not too often that football games get rained out, but that is exactly what happened Friday. All three Fort Mill based high schools had their games canceled and/or postponed. Nation Ford did get part of their game in. Fort Mill and Catawba Ridge didn’t get their games started.
