    Rusk County officials warn residents after $15K of equipment stolen

    RUSK COUNTY, Texas ( KETK ) — The Rusk County Sheriff’s Office recovered $15,000 worth of stolen equipment on Monday and urge residents to document serial numbers and other identifiable information.

    According to a release, the sheriff’s office investigated a theft that was reported earlier on Monday. Deputies located the missing equipment and maintained a secure perimeter while the Rusk County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division received a search warrant for the location of the equipment.

    The reported stolen property was valued at $15,000 and officials said no further details will be release at the time.

    The sheriff’s office reminds residents to document serial numbers, vehicle identification numbers and any other type of identifying information for items of value so they can be properly identified in the event that they get stolen.

    “Having this information allows law enforcement to quickly identify property and have it entered into a system that alerts other agencies should they come in contact with the property,” the sheriff’s office said.
