Texas State Open returns to Cascades Country Club for 13th time

TYLER, Texas ( KETK ) — For the 13th time, Tyler will be the center of Texas golf next week.

The 54th M&P Group Texas State Open returns to Cascades Country Club from July 30-August 2.

A field of 144 golfers will compete in this year’s tournament for a first-place prize of $40,000.

The field includes former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo, a handful of East Texas players and many of the top golfers from around the Lone Star State.

Mason Greene and Sean Walsh, who are part of the popular golf social media group “Good Good,” will also be in this year’s field.

Past winners of the Texas State Open have gone on to play on the PGA Tour Americas, Korn Ferry Tour and PGA Tour.

The following East Texas golfers will compete in this year’s tournament: Sam Benson (Gilmer), Ethan Dean (Kaufman), Blake Elliott (Bullard), Sam Fidone (Lufkin), Chapman Herwood (Tyler), Taylor Mahan (Lindale), Tanner Napier (Paris), Trevor Norby (Sulphur Springs), Robert Shields (Tyler) and Rick Wingfield (Chandler).

The 54th M&P Group Texas State Open is free of admission and open to the public.
