DIANA, Texas ( KETK ) – New Diana ISD is back in school this week with a new superintendent and many projects in the works for the upcoming school year.

UPDATE: New Diana passes $28M bond by 8 votes

Students started class on Tuesday and Superintendent Marshal Moore said the transition from summer to school went very well. Getting back in the classroom isn’t the only thing students and faculty have to be excited about this year.

“The kids are excited, from what I can tell, from when I’ve walked around the campus this week, they’re excited to be back,” said Moore. “A lot of stuff going on here to start the year off with we just passed a bond passed in May.”

This new bond will allow for campus safety updates, a multi-purpose gym and renovating the band hall.

“We signed a contract over the summer with Fluger Architects out of Dallas and we are in the process of getting a construction manager on board right now,” said Moore. “So we’ll be starting the planning process of our projects this fall and hopefully start the construction process in the spring.”

Moore also told KETK about his goals for the new year. He wants New Diana ISD to set the standard for each of the other school districts in the area.

“I will be thinking about continuous improvement, sitting in this seat. I will be constantly looking at ways we can get better as a district,” said Moore
