    Wiley University students recognized as White House Scholars

    MARSHALL, Texas ( KETK ) – Wiley University announced that two of their students have been recognized as White House Scholars for the Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) Scholar Recognition Program.

    According to Wiley University, Wayne Curtis, a sophomore computer information systems major, and Jean-Marie Farhina, a junior biology major, were selected as recognized scholars and will attend various workshops, networking events and leadership development programs meant to prepare them for their future career fields.

    “I am honored and humbled to have been selected as an HBCU White House Scholar. Such an honor fills me with immense pride and gratitude. It speaks volumes of the organization’s commitment to affirm and recognize the potential of students like myself,” Curtis said.

    According to the US Department of Education the HBCU Scholar Program, 110 students from HBCUs across the U.S. have been selected for the program, and the scholars represent 23 states and 11 countries.

    “I live up to the university’s slogan, which is to ‘Go Forth Inspired’. I made a promise to myself upon entering the university by agreeing to such words. I believe that it is instilled in me to go into the world and impact with purpose. Thank you, Wildcat Family,” Farhina said.
