“Just this break, you know what I mean, this cut helps,” Alyssa Camp, local shopper, said

Camp and her son hit the Broadway Square Mall in Tyler early Friday morning to beat the crowds.

“Shirts, school supplies, you know, all of that stuff with what’s going right now they’re cheaper– a little bit cheaper you know with the tax off of it,” Camp said.

JC Penney’s general manager at the Broadway Square Mall shared that foot traffic will be busy all weekend.

“Texans love tax-free, it is as big as black Friday so there will be a lot of people out shopping,” Clifton Boyles, JC Penney general manager, said.

Technology, accessories, and other items are not included.

“Things have gotten expensive, so we are just trying to help our average everyday Americans save money and we’re going to have a lot of doorbusters and extra ways to save this weekend,” Boyles said.

There are a lot of ways parents will be able to save some cash on back to school preparation.

“Any student k-12 can come and get their haircut in the salon for 12 dollars,” Boyles said.

Camp shared that any way to save is helpful for her family.

“Because taxes are so far up right now this helps a lot like 8.25 used not to be anything but now it’s outrageous,” Camp said.

Retail stores are looking forward to all of the shoppers who join them through the weekend.

“Looking forward to having everyone come out and have a lot of fun with us and getting a lot of your back-to-school shopping done,” Boyles said.
