In 2002 Tyler students, parents and teachers were getting ready for the new semester. Former KETK reporter Lasandra Brown spoke to a new fourth grade teacher that welcomed 23 new faces.

“The kids are what I’m all about, so I want it to look as fun and active as possible,” Ms. Moody said.

Moody, whose childhood dream was to teach, was new to the state and the profession. With her first classroom and class she decided to offer a fun approach to learning while still holding high expectations.

“I don’t know how many of them have really had people that expect a lot out of them. But I want to do that and I want to help them learn as much as they can to challenge them,” Moody said.

The students returned to school with fun, learning and challenges that Moody hoped could brighten their future.
