    Ellen Trout Zoo raising admission prices

    LUFKIN, Texas ( KETK ) – Starting on Oct. 1, the Ellen Trout Zoo in Lufkin is raising their admission prices to help maintain their high standard of care for their animals.

    “In 1993, we started charging admission fees to help the zoo grow and develop plus maintain all of our awesome animal residents! Starting October 1st, our admissions fees are increasing to help continue our high standard of animal care, education, and conservation as we grow into the future.”

    The zoo announced the following price changes:

    • 12 to 59-year-olds will have to pay $10, up from $8
    • 60-year-olds and older will have to pay $8, up from $6
    • Military service members will have to pay $8, up from $6
    • 4 to 11-year-olds will have to pay $5, up from $4
    • 3-year-olds and younger still get in free

    Additionally, groups of 15 or more will cost only $5 per adult and $2.50 per child. Schools can attend the zoo at a cost of $2 per person. To learn more, visit the Ellen Trout Zoo online .
