    Meet Gator, Texarkana’s newest K9

    TEXARKANA, Texas ( KETK ) – The Texarkana, Texas Police Department celebrated National Dog Day on Monday by welcoming a brand new K9.

    According to a release, Gator is a 16-month-old Belgian Malinois and he has been trained in drug detection, apprehension and tracking. Gator’s partner said that he has already demonstrated his skills and capabilities by completing a training track in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, according to Texarkana PD.

    Texarkana PD also said that Monday was Gator’s third patrol shift.
