ANGELINA COUNTY, Texas ( KETK ) — A Fort Worth man has been arrested after reportedly admitting to East Texas officers he was transporting 20 kilos of crystal meth in his vehicle while his son was in the car.

The Angelina County Sheriff’s Office said they seized 20 kilos of methamphetamine on Friday during a speeding traffic stop on Loop 287 in Lufkin. Officials identified the driver as Alex Aguirre, 27 of Fort Worth, with a child that Aguirre said was his son.

“Deputies on routine patrol observed a silver Chevrolet Suburban northbound on Loop 287 on the east side of Lufkin that was checked at 76 MPH in a 55 MPH zone,” the sheriff’s office said. “While talking to Aguirre, deputies noticed he was extremely nervous, fidgety and breathing heavily.”

During the course of the traffic stop, Aguirre reportedly told officials he was transporting meth and consented to a search of the vehicle.

The sheriff’s office said deputies found two garbage sacks on the floorboard between the second and third row sets. The sacks contained a total of 20 individual, clear bags that the officers believed to contain crystal meth.

Aguirre was arrested and the drugs were taken to the sheriff’s office where officials discovered the bags weighed 20 kilograms or about 20,000 grams. Officials said bulk trade value of the meth is worth more than $4,000 per kilo.

“When broken down into individual use packages of 3.5 grams, commonly referred to as an 8 ball, which sells for about $70 will bring a total of several hundred thousand dollars from the street,” the sheriff’s office said.

The Angelina County Sheriff’s Office said Aguirre has a 2018 arrest in Fort Worth for as first degree felony manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance and is awaiting arraignment on his new charge.

I will never understand why people will even consider transporting illegal stuff and the. do stupid shit like speeding 26 mph over the speed limit, having expired tags or a light out. If you're going to do something like that, then you better make sure you cross your t's and dot your i's. Make sure nothing is wrong with your vehicle, and you follow every single law to the teeth, if you don't want to get caught.
