Indoor pickleball is coming to East Texas

TYLER, Texas ( KETK ) – Indoor pickleball courts are coming to East Texas and are expected to open next year in the City of Tyler.

The sport has recently grown in popularity as many pickleball players describe it as a lighter version of tennis. Just in November 2023, Pollard Park in Tyler reopened after renovations and the installation of dedicated pickleball courts.

Players across East Texas will be able to play the sport all year-long come rain or shine.

On Wednesday, a groundbreaking was held in southwest Tyler at 5908 Rhones Quarter Rd. The club said they are working on opening in 2025 and people can start purchasing membership online.

According to the club’s website , the facility will include 12 courts with barriers, a lounge area, a practice area, a party room and a recovery room.
