Police search for missing East Texas man not seen since mid-August

OMAHA, Texas ( KTAL/KMSS ) — Omaha police are searching for a man who has not been seen since mid-August and are asking the public for assistance in locating him.

According to Omaha Police Chief Billy Weatherford, Dustin Perkins was last seen on Aug. 15 in a smoke shop at 405 W L Doc Dodson W in Naples, Texas. Police could not confirm whether he left the location walking or was given a ride, but they said he generally walks everywhere he goes.

Perkins is approximately 6 feet tall and about 175 pounds. He was last seen wearing a gray shirt and blue jeans.

Anyone with information that can lead police to Perkins should call the Morris County Sheriff’s Office at 903-645-2232 or the Omaha Police Department at 903-844-2305.

Perkins is not considered a threat to the public and no foul play is suspected in his disappearance. However, police said that Perkins told his mother that he was afraid to go to jail for some time following his recent release from Morris County Jail on Aug. 13, just days before he went missing.

He could be hiding in the Marietta area of Cass County. Police say if you see Perkins, tell him that his family and local law enforcement want to know he is safe.
