I-20 traffic changes expected for bridge construction, TxDOT says

TYLER, Texas ( KETK ) — Drivers can expect traffic delays and pattern changes when driving on I-20 near Canton beginning on Tuesday.

According to TxDOT, traffic patterns on FM 859 and I-20 will change as crews work on the new FM 859 bridge.

“While the I-20 main lanes will remain open during this phase of construction, motorists traveling on FM 859 need to be aware of the changes. Temporary signals have been put in place as well as signage to alert motorists of the changes,” TxDOT said.

I-20 eastbound SH 19 exit, Exit 527 will be closed during this phase of the project. Motorists needing to access SH 19 will have to use FM 859 exit, Exit 525 to access north or southbound SH 19.

TxDOT officials said the bridge is expected to be completed by March 2025 and drivers are asked to watch their speed when travelling through work zones. People are asked to call 903-510-9267 with any questions.
