Longview man dies in Louisiana 18-wheeler crash

LONGVIEW, Texas ( KETK ) – A Longview man died after a crash involving an 18-wheeler Thursday night in Rapides Parish, Louisiana, authorities said.

According to the Louisiana State Police, at approximately 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, troopers responded to a two-vehicle crash on I-49. Officials said that a 2019 freightliner and a passenger car were traveling northbound when the passenger car “failed to slow down and rear ended the freightliner.”

Officials said after the collision, the passenger car exited the roadway and struck cable barriers in the median.

The driver of the passenger car, identified as Miguel Castillo, 32 of Longview, who was “not restrained” sustained severe injuries and was taken to a local hospital where he later died, troopers said.

Louisiana State Police said that the cause of the crash is still under investigation.
