2 dead, child injured after Tyler crash

TYLER, Texas ( KETK ) – Two people died in a crash Saturday night on Highway 271, Tyler Police Department officials said.

Tyler Police Department Public Information Officer Andy Erbaugh confirmed a double fatality occurred at around 8:20 p.m. near FM 2015.

Erbaugh said the investigation indicated a pickup truck was southbound on FM 2015 when it pulled out in front of a minivan traveling northeast on Highway 271.

Officials said two of the minivan occupants died on the scene and were identified as 62-year-old Tammy Gibney and 39-year-old Chelsea Askew, both of Louisiana. An 11-year-old who was in the backseat of the minivan was flown to a hospital in critical condition.

The pickup truck driver was taken to a local hospital and Erbaugh said charges on the driver are pending.
