19-year-old arrested for alleged threat made to East Texas school

TITUS COUNTY, Texas ( KETK ) — A 19-year-old woman is facing terroristic threat charges after allegedly making a threat against a school.

The Titus County Sheriff’s Office said the FBI notified them of a potential threat made against an educational institution by a person believed to reside in the county.

Investigators identified the suspect as Adriana Orona who was arrested on charges of terroristic threat, a third degree felony. Orona is being held at the Titus County Jail and is awaiting arraignment.

Mount Pleasant ISD released a statement on Tuesday and said though the threat was not specifically made to the school district, law enforcement took the threat seriously and investigated the leads.

“Parents, please discuss with your students that making threats online is not a joke and can result in serious consequences,” Mount Pleasant ISD said.

Mount Pleasant ISD’s Superintendent Judd Marshall said Orona was a former student of the school district and a current student at Northeast Texas Community College (NTCC).

NTCC’s police department was also contacted by law enforcement on Monday of the nonspecific threat.

“The safety and security of the NTCC community is our top priority and we will continue to monitor this situation. We have police and security presence on our campus 24/7 and they remain on high alert in response to this incident,” NTCC Police Chief Russell Radke said.
