Top 20 Best Community Colleges in the state includes 5 East Texas campuses

LUFKIN, Texas ( KETK ) – Niche released their 2025 Best Community College rankings in the state and five East Texas campuses were recognized.

According to Panola College, who was ranked #2 in the state, Niche’s rankings are created through academics, diversity, value, student reviews and even party scene.

The top 20 also colleges included Lufkin’s Angelina College in #3, Kilgore College in #16, Athens’ Trinity Valley Community College in #18 and Mount Pleasant’s Northeast Texas Community College in #19.

“Our college rankings don’t use data submitted to us by colleges or ask ‘experts’ to echo back which colleges they think are top,” Niche said. “Our algorithm only relies on the most trustworthy sources, like the U.S. Department of Education and National Science Foundation, to supply our data.”

Carthage’s Panola College, the highest ranking community college in East Texas, are thrilled to have also been ranked the 15th best community college in the nation.
