Firefighters rescue stuck kittens from tree, truck across Smith County

SMITH COUNTY, Texas ( KETK ) – Firefighters with Smith County Emergency Services District 2 received, not one, but two calls for separate kitten rescues on Tuesday.

ESD2 said they responded to a call where an elderly resident’s cat was in a neighbors tree. Firefighters were able to use a ladder to safely rescue the cat.

“We haven’t ever found cat bones in a tree and we didn’t want to break that record today,” ESD2 said.

A few hours later, firefighters were once again dispatched to rescue stuck kittens but this time from a truck in a high school parking lot.

The crew on Engine 156 arrived to the high school parking lot and were able to successfully rescue several kittens, ESD2 said.

“Just adding another rescue to our list of successes for today,” ESD2 said.
