    SFA ranks among top public universities in latest report

    NACOGDOCHES, Texas ( KETK ) – Stephen F. Austin State University was tied as the highest ranked regional public school in Texas by the U.S. News and World Report.

    According to the U.S. News and World Report , SFA and University of Northern Texas are the highest rated Texas schools in the public universities of the western region category, tied at rank 18. SFA is also ranked number 35 among all universities in the western region.

    “This prestigious ranking is a testament to the dedication of our faculty, staff and students,” Dr. Neal Weaver, SFA president, said. “Being named the top regional public school in Texas and advancing to 18th in the western region demonstrates the strength of our programs and our unwavering focus on student success. We are honored to be recognized in this way and will continue to work toward fostering an exceptional educational environment at SFA.”

    According to the university, the rankings were based on an evaluation of many factors, such as:

    • Academic reputation
    • Graduation and retention rates
    • Faculty resources
    • Financial resources
    • Student selectivity
