KEMP, Texas ( KETK ) – The last few years have been hard for businesses to stay afloat. Many of them are dealing with higher costs of food and everything else.

“So many different struggles as far as meat prices, where they’ve gone, how they’ve skyrocketed,” BBQ and a Prayer owner John Borgstedt said.

“I see a lot of staff issues or being closed because Aunt Mary was sick and all that, but at this point, we don’t close down ever,” owner, Slice Pizza Co. owner Anthony Cordova said.

Slice Pizza Company in Kemp has been open for six months. On top of getting a new business off the ground, now they are teaming up with BBQ and a Prayer for a good cause.

“Everyone needs help, so if I can help whenever I can, I’ll do that, and just like other people help us when they can, so it’s just about spreading the love and sharing the wealth,” Cordova said.

They are creating special pizzas for a fundraiser. The toppings brisket and sausage were all provided by the BBQ food truck.

“I’m just blessed that we’re able to do this it’s such an amazing thing to be able to put two culinary arts together, to be able to change some women’s lives,” Borgstedt said.

“I hope that this didn’t just draw attention to Grace House, but it does to these guys who have given up their time, their talent, their finances to make this happen,” Boatright said.
