There's a new wide receiver that Miami fans should watch out for in the 2025 class. Cape Coral (Fla.) wideout Kalonji Hamilton has picked up steam on the recruiting trail over the last couple of weeks. On July 7, he did not have any offers. As of July 22, he holds offers from Louisville, Indiana, Georgia Tech, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Auburn, Texas A&M, Oregon and Tennessee, as well as Miami, which offered the 5-foot-11, 170-pound receiver on July 18.

“Nickel Boys,” an adaptation of Colson Whitehead’s Pulitzer Prize-winning novel, will open the 62nd New York Film Festival in September, organizers said Monday. Filmmaker RaMell Ross directed the drama based on the 2019 novel about two Black teenagers in an abusive reform school in Florida in Jim Crow-era Florida. Whitehead used the real Dozier School for Boys, and its victims, as a model. The cast includes Ethan Herisse, Brandon Wilson, Hamish Linklater, Fred Hechinger, Daveed Diggs and Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor.
Affordable housing apartment converting to boutique hotel, tenants being asked to move or face eviction
Residents living in an affordable housing apartment complex are being told they have 60-days to move or face eviction notices. Back in March of 2023, the City's Historic Preservation Board voted to have developers add additional units, a rooftop pool, and an outside terrace to the Riviera Plaza Apartments, located at 337 20th St. in Miami Beach.

In the 1980s, Miami was a byword for violence. Drug cartels were murdering people. Tourists were targeted for robbery or worse, a trend so bad that the state of Florida changed its laws in the early 1990s in order to make it harder to identify who was a tourist by eliminating telltale license plates on rental cars.
