Nicholas Prange, a spokesperson for the Los Angeles Fire Department, told KNN that the LAFD initially responded to the 5900 block of Tampa Avenue at 5:39 p.m. for flooding. The flooding appeared to be from a broken water main, prompting a request for the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power to respond to the scene.

The Los Angeles Department of Transportation also responded and requested that the Los Angeles Police Department respond to the scene to help prevent motorists from driving through the flooded roadway, a spokesperson for the LAPD told KNN.

At some point, a white minivan drove through the flooded roadway into a deep hole caused by the water main break.

A towing company arrived and removed the van from the hole, and LADWP attempted to pump out the water.

It is unknown if anyone was injured.

KNN has contacted LADOT for further details. There is no additional information at this time.
