Jeep Crashes Into Underside of Trailer in Fontana Leaving Fatally Injured Driver Trapped

FONTANA, Calif., Oct. 20 (KNN) — A driver was killed in a solo vehicle crash into a big rig trailer overnight on Whittram Avenue in the city of Fontana.

California Highway Patrol officers from the Rancho Cucamonga Area office and San Bernardino County Fire Department responded to a traffic collision with one person reported trapped in the 13800 block of Whittram Avenue shortly before 1 a.m. Sunday.

Once officers and firefighters arrived at the scene, they located a Jeep that had crashed and was stuck underneath a trailer with the driver trapped.

Firefighters were able to free the trapped driver, but the driver was pronounced deceased at the scene by firefighters and paramedics.

It is unknown at this time if speed or alcohol was a factor in the crash. CHP had east and westbound lanes closed as they investigated the fatal crash.
