Former All-Star pitcher Jerry Walker dies at 85
The Orioles announced on Wednesday that former All-Star pitcher Jerry Walker died over the weekend. He was 85. Walker, a 6-foot-1 right-hander, signed with Baltimore out of East Central University in Oklahoma. Even though he was just 18 years old at the time, the O’s sent Walker straight to the big leagues. He remarkably managed a 2.93 ERA over 13 appearances (three starts) down the stretch in 1957. The O’s sent him down the following season and gave him nearly a full year in the minors to build up as a starting pitcher. In 1959, Walker got a shot at Baltimore’s rotation.
Ravens Likely to Use Returning Draft Pick ‘Situationally’
Staying healthy has been a major challenge for David Ojabo, so it’s probably sensible the Baltimore Ravens are planning to make limited use of the third-year edge-rusher. Ojabo, the team’s second-round pick in the 2022 NFL draft, is coming back from knee surgery that cost him all-but three games last season. The Ravens will have to manage his return carefully, so they “will probably use Ojabo situationally,” according to Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic.

BWI flights canceled, delayed; Maryland issues partial state of emergency over Microsoft outage
BALTIMORE -- The Maryland Department of Emergency Management increased the State Activation Level from Normal to Partial on Friday morning in response to a Microsoft outage that has paralyzed systems worldwide, including some at BWI Airport.The agency says Partial activation is for "an incident or event requiring significant monitoring or resources," meaning there is additional Emergency Operations Center staffing from other agencies and organizations. Banks, airlines, television networks and health systems across the world are impacted by the outage. Appliance Fire Causes ~$100,000 in Damage
Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to the 1500blk of Grandin Ave, off Broadwood Dr in Rockville on Wednesday for the report of a house fire. According to MCFRS Spokesperson Pete Piringer on Thursday morning, the fire started on an entertainment center with several potential ignition sources, including a television, VCR, cable box, and router. The fire was ruled accidental, but the specific appliance that caused it could not be determined.
